Hello, my name is Natasha McKenzie and I have been in the industry since July 2006. After obtaining my license in 2007 I worked for several chain salons and grew in my craft. In 2012, after happening upon a demonstration by DevaCurl at a hair show I enrolled in a curly hair course with DevaCurl. Inspiration struck and I have been specializing in curly hair ever since. I began working as an educator for DevaCurl and opened my own salon suite in 2016. Curly hair and vivid hair colors have become my passion and niche in the world of hair.

The training emphasizes the critical importance of a proper "pre-cut" hair analysis, requiring clients to arrive with dry, naturally set hair to allow stylists to accurately evaluate curl patterns and follicle shapes. Natasha demonstrates the DevaCurl Transformation Service, detailing specialized techniques for mechanical cleansing and conditioning that avoid stripping natural oils. Key demonstrations include the "scrub on, scrub off" method for no-poo cleansers, proper detangling protocols using sectioning and water as a slip agent, and the application of stylers like Mist of Wonders and the new Quenching Gel. Stylists will learn how to manipulate curl outcomes by choosing between layering and mixing products, as well as specific "scrunched-up" or "pulled-down" drying techniques to satisfy client preferences for either maximum volume or elongated length.
