Q. Where are you happiest?
A. I am happiest when I’m in the classroom teaching.
Q. What do you love most about the industry?
A. I love that we are an industry based on empowering others.
Q. Whom do you admire most in the industry?
A. I admire Educator/Artist/Hairstylist Sam Villa because his entire platform is based on empowerment through education.
Q. What inspires you?
A. I’m inspired by stylists! It’s a personal mission of mine to help my fellow stylists by sharing my trials, errors, challenges and successes in an effort to make their lives easier behind the chair.
Q. How do you push yourself every day?
A. Every day, I strive to achieve something incrementally different than the day before so I can continue to grow over time.
Q. What do you love doing outside of work?
A. My motto is, “Will travel for food!” I love exploring the Pacific Northwest and enjoying new food destinations.
Q. What do you love most about your clients?
A. I love the genuine connections we share and the ability to help each other grow.
Q. What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced?
A. Finding a work/life balance has been my biggest challenge. But being a part of PRAVANA has empowered me to achieve that balance and lead a healthy lifestyle.
Q. What is your favorite place to visit?
A. I love Arizona! The landscape is indescribable, and that state truly has the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen. Trees even glow in the daylight! There’s so much beauty in Arizona’s natural environment.
Q. What is your favorite cutting technique?
A. One of my favorite cutting techniques is the power of over direction. I over direct the hair, then turn it over and begin to cut for a blended look!
Q. What is your favorite color technique?
A. I love creating a double-shadow root or a natural finish on hair—no matter whether it’s on VIVIDS or a natural tone.
Q. What is your favorite trend?
A. My favorite trends are pink hair and metallic violet tones! Violet is such a timeless, fun and versatile shade.
Q. Do you use social media to advance your career? If so how?
A. Absolutely! As a member of the PRAVANA Collective, one of our priorities is to elevate and connect through social media. It’s a great platform for connecting with others about education.
Q. Why are beauty shows important?
A. Beauty shows are important because they create a space centered around education that brings like-minded people together. And these beauty pros are hungry to learn and grow—both the first-timers and the stylists who keep coming back for more.
Q. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?
A. To decompartmentalize yourself and your social media—to let people fall in love with you personally and not just your work.
Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A. I envision myself continuing as an artistic educator and leader and hopefully directing my own shows.
