Q. What do you love most about the industry?
A. I love the different avenues you can take. I went to cosmetology school and afterwards discovered my passion for educating. The possibilities are endless.
Q. What areas are you strongest in professionally?
A. Color is definitely my strong suite. In particular "lived-in blondes."
Q. Whom do you admire most in the industry?
A. Sonya Dove and Stephen Moody. Somehow they are able to be such incredible influencers, but at the same time, when you're in their presence, they just make you feel special. I don't know how else to describe the feeling. They lead their platforms with kindness, and beyond their talent, that's so valuable.
Q. How do you push yourself every day?
A. My morning routine keeps me centered. I stick to my healthy habits like waking up early, having a cup of hot lemon water to rid my body of toxins, going for a walk and having a healthy smoothie. Then I'm able to handle whatever is thrown my way.
Q. What is your favorite cutting technique?
A. The cut craft seminar created by Stephen Moody! It teaches you technique, not a haircut. In my opinion, it's essential for every stylist behind the chair.
Q. What is your favorite color technique?
A. I created a coloring technique called my "4 Point Blonding Technique" #4pointblonding. It's a map for stylists to know exactly where they need to add lightness or depth within the hair. It makes approaching blonding services much more clear and less intimidating. I teach it a lot in my blonding classes for Wella.
Q. What's the best piece of advice you've received?
A. The best piece of advice I received when I was first starting out was to steal with your eyes. You see a trend or technique that you like? Take it back to your studio or salon and then reinvent what you've seen. Take for example balayage. It first came out in the '70s, and look at how many times it's been reinvented. Always make it your own.

What does being licensed to create mean to you?
"I made many sacrifices to get to this point in my life today. Being a hairstylist isn't just a job to play with hair all day. It means we are business savvy individuals who get to use our artistic talents and touch the lives of many people. And for that, I am so thankful that I am licensed to create. It's a powerful title to hold. But we deserve it."
