Beauty and the Barber

Frances and Edgar

My love affair with hairstyling began about 13 years ago.
In 2015, I felt I needed a change from the salon I was in and, as luck would have it, an opportunity emerged to join the Bauhaus Hair Studio team in the Orange, CA. To my delight, there was a boxing gym right next door, and my eyes one day caught a glimpse of a very handsome martial arts instructor inside. We would frequently exchange smiles through the windows of our respective work places. One day, Edgar and I struck up a conversation, and he had said he had been cutting his own hair for years and also cutting his friends' hair out of his home garage. He also mentioned his desire to attend barbering school (which he later admitted was his very clever way of striking up a conversation with me).

As time went on, our conversations deepened, and we learned that martial arts and hair were not the only common interests we shared. We began dating a little while later and within the first few months of our relationship, Edgar decided to make a career change and enroll in barbering school. While he's been busy transitioning into a new career path, I've been busy with the renovation of a new salon. I am so grateful to have him in my life.

We have really become such a huge support system for one another, and we continue to inspire each other on a daily basis. On our respective days off, you will either find us sparring in the gym or passionately exchanging our thoughts and ideas about hair. I like to think we bring out the best in each other. We are affectionately referred to by those close to us as "the couple who can beat you up and cut your hair." The dynamic duo of beauty and strength. Edgar and I feel very blessed to share our joy, passions and art with one another.
